Ms. Martens shared an excerpt from Embers. Then we were reminded about expectations when it comes to the learning jounrals and also listening. We recapped the animal people in the story, and then continued to read the story and reflect in our journals. There was oral story prep time.

Ms. Martens shared an excerpt from Embers. Then we learned about learning journals and the summative assignment for this unit. We talked about the qualities of a leader. We looked at the 7 Grandfather teachings again, and then read a story about leadership. There was a written reflection.

Ms. Martens shared an excerpt from Embers. Then we listened to an oral story about Turtle Island. We had some class discussions about oral stories and how they are different and what's their value.
